Rumor: 8-Player Smash Found In Smash Bros. Files

Somebody uploaded several audio files from Super Smash Bros. for 3DS on an audio file sharing website known as The Sounds Resource. Every audio file containing lines from the announcer seems to be included. Interestingly, nine of the audio files don’t actually appear in normal gameplay. Those nine lines, with the corresponding file names, are:
  • “Boss Battle” (snd_se_narration_menu_0000000C)
  • “Tourney” (snd_se_narration_menu_00000001)
  • “Yellow Team” (snd_se_narration_menu_0000001C)
  • “Event Match” (snd_se_narration_menu_00000002)
  • “Grab the Coins” (snd_se_narration_menu_00000007)
  • “Special Smash” (snd_se_narration_menu_00000009)
  • “The Champion Is” (snd_se_narration_menu_00000010)
  • “8-Player Smash” (snd_se_narration_menu_00000020)
  • “Choose a Mii” (snd_se_narration_menu_00000024)

The files sound identical to the game’s announcer, and appear to be authentic. This would indicate that Nintendo intended—or at least considered—implementing a few more game modes. Then again, maybe these features will be added down the road, or included in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
